About Rancho Cucamonga Middle School
Since 1977, Rancho Cucamonga Middle School (RCMS) has been a place where generations of students have learned, grown, and built lasting connections. As part of the Cucamonga School District, whose roots in public education stretch back more than 150 years, RCMS is proud to carry forward a longstanding tradition of serving our community while continually evolving to meet the needs of today's students.
Located in the heart of Rancho Cucamonga, our campus has grown and transformed over the decades. From its original construction in 1977 to significant renovations and the addition of modern classrooms, innovative learning spaces, and updated technology, RCMS reflects both the rich history of our community and our commitment to preparing students for the future.
Today, RCMS serves a diverse community of approximately 750 students in grades 6–8. We recognize that middle school is a unique and important chapter in a child's life—a time of discovery, growing independence, new friendships, and exciting possibilities. Our dedicated teachers and staff work to create a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment where every student feels known, valued, and challenged to reach their potential.
Our school community is guided by our Lion's PRIDE: Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination, and Empathy. These values are more than words; they shape our expectations, our relationships, and the way we approach learning each day. We believe that academic achievement and strong character go hand in hand, and we strive to help our students develop both.
At RCMS, learning extends well beyond the traditional classroom. Through engaging academic instruction, innovative technology, visual and performing arts, athletics, clubs, and enrichment opportunities, students are encouraged to explore their interests and discover new strengths. Guided by our district's Portrait of a Graduate, we emphasize critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, resilience, and empathy—skills that prepare students not only for high school but for success in life.
We are proud of the academic growth our students continue to demonstrate and the positive school culture we are building together. Just as importantly, we recognize that our success is rooted in strong relationships among students, families, educators, and our broader community. The partnership between school and home remains one of our greatest strengths.
Five decades after our campus first opened, our purpose remains clear: to provide every student with the opportunity to learn, belong, and thrive. We honor the generations of Lions who came before us while embracing the opportunities and possibilities that lie ahead.
