Dear Cucamonga School District Families,

We are excited to share that this week our governance team had the privilege of meeting with U.S. Congresswoman Norma Torres. The discussion centered around crucial topics impacting our schools, specifically focusing on funding for education and special education.

We discussed the importance of ensuring that our students receive the resources they need to thrive academically.  We highlighted the unique challenges faced by our special education programs and advocated for increased support to better serve our students with diverse needs. Congresswoman Torres was receptive to our concerns and pledged to consider them in her ongoing efforts.

The meeting was not only an opportunity to voice our needs but also to explore potential collaborations. We look forward to working with Congresswoman Torres and her team to advocate for policies that benefit our entire school community.

We believe that these discussions mark a positive step towards securing the resources and support our students deserve. We will keep you updated on any developments and continue to work diligently to ensure our schools have the necessary tools to succeed.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community.

Take Care,
Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL
By Principal Narrie Gavares

Welcome to the start of a new school year!

As we embark on this exciting journey together at THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL, I want to emphasize the incredible value of family engagement in our school community. When families and schools work in partnership, our students thrive, and we create a nurturing environment where everyone feels supported. This year, we have numerous opportunities for you to get involved and make a meaningful impact. Whether it's volunteering in the classroom, helping with events, or contributing your voice to important school decisions, your participation is vital.

We have kicked off this year with our first fundraiser called, Step It Up!  We’ve already had several winners for fundraising this year - students have won a Nintendo Switch Lite, an Apple iPad, and a cool mini fridge!  More winners will be announced soon!  But our prize recipients are not the only winners in this fundraiser… our school is almost at our goal!  We have until September 3rd to make this goal a reality so let’s give it our best shot and help make this dream a reality. We're truly thrilled to see such a strong turnout at our first fundraiser of the year—thank you for your generosity and commitment to our school!

Looking ahead, there are many ways to continue your contribution to our school community. We encourage you to consider joining one of our advisory councils, such as the School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC), or the African American Parent Advisory Council (AAPAC). These councils play a crucial role in shaping our school's future, and your insights are invaluable. Additionally, we will have various volunteer opportunities throughout the year, from classroom support to special events. Together, let's make this school year our best one yet, filled with collaboration, growth, and shared success. We are so grateful to have you as part of our TOCS family and look forward to working alongside you to make a positive difference in our students' lives.
