RCMS Gets Running!

Good Evening Families,

This past week, RCMS students ran their first official mile. The PE team has been working with students, gearing them up for this moment, by stretching appropriately, discussing pacing, and practicing running shorter distances. I was lucky enough to head out with our 6th period students and run with them. We have some amazing athletes on campus! I was also encouraged by the positive way students and staff members were offering support and good vibes to all the runners. What an awesome way to set a baseline for a year of strength and growth.

It's a great reminder that it takes determination, resilience, and support from others to make growth happen - whether that's in the classroom or out on the field.

Have a great week LIONS!

Important: Both Thursday and Friday are modified days this week! (Dismissal at 1:48)

Conferences Are Coming!

Can you believe it? We have officially finished the first quarter of the 26-27 school year. With that milestone come our first set of conferences next week. To help you plan ahead, please view the conference schedule below.

Monday (10/12) through Wednesday (10/14)
Open conferences in the gym from 1-3pm

Thursday (10/15)
Virtual and phone conferences by appointment only (check in with your teachers to schedule)

This is an important opportunity for families and teachers to connect. We appreciate you prioritizing your student's success.
Student reading

Let's Keep Reading!

Independent reading is one of the most powerful ways students can strengthen their skills and develop a lifelong love of learning. Regular reading builds vocabulary, improves comprehension and fluency, strengthens writing, and helps students develop the background knowledge they need to succeed across all subject areas. Just as importantly, choosing books that match their own interests gives students opportunities to explore new ideas, perspectives, and experiences while building independence and confidence as readers. We encourage all RCMS students to make reading a regular part of their routine—because even a few minutes of reading each day can add up to meaningful growth over time.

Our goal is for students to read 500,000 minutes this school year. So far, BeanStack (our reading tracking program) shows that we've read 93,000 minutes so far. What a strong start! Keep up the good work, Lions!
