SUPERINTENDENT'S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
October 2, 2026

Dear CSD Parents and Guardians,

Thank you to all of our families who took the time to connect with us during elementary school Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. We know how busy family schedules can be, and we truly appreciate your commitment to participating in your child’s education.

Public education is a true partnership between families, teachers, and district leaders. Parent-teacher conferences are a vital space where we work together to support each child's individual growth and potential. If you left your conference with questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please know that we are still early in the school year, and there is plenty of time for learning, discovery, and growth.

Our fantastic teachers and amazing support staff are dedicated to understanding how each child learns best and ensuring they have the support they need to succeed in the classroom and in real life. Your child is never in this alone. To ensure every student receives the care and tools they need to thrive, our teachers and staff are working collaboratively to provide:

  • Tailored Classroom Support: Teachers and support staff adjust everyday instruction to engage every student and meet their individual learning strengths.
  • Focused Academic Support: Students can receive additional, targeted reading and math support during the school day to build strong foundational skills.
  • Extended Learning Opportunities: Our 8-week after-school program offers small-group enrichment and skill-building for students who benefit from extra support.

We also want to make it easy for you to stay connected as partners in your child's journey. For a quick snapshot of your child’s academic progress, check Aeries Gradebook for assignments, and use ParentSquare to connect directly with your child’s teacher.

Preparing children for life is about so much more than grades or test scores. It is about nurturing curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, and emotional regulation, skills that help young people grow into confident, capable adults. Every step forward matters.

A quick reminder for our middle school families: Parent-Teacher Conferences for RCMS are scheduled for October 12–16, 2026.

Thank you for partnering with our teachers and staff and for trusting us with your children. We’re in this together, and there is still so much room for growth this year!

Take care,

Michael Chaix, Ed.D.

SCHOOL SPOTLIGHT

THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL
By Principal Narrie Gavares

September has been a wonderful month of learning and community building here at THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL, and as we close out the month, we want to spotlight a cause that is very close to our hearts. September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Symbolized by the gold ribbon, this month is dedicated to honoring the incredible bravery of children facing pediatric cancer, raising awareness about the realities of the disease, and highlighting the critical need for continued research and support. With thousands of children diagnosed each year, it is a cause that calls upon communities to come together in hope and solidarity.

This awareness month is deeply meaningful to our campus, as we have precious students within our own school family who have been personally affected by childhood cancer. To show our unwavering support and to celebrate our child cancer heroes, our staff proudly dressed in gold on September 24th. We were also deeply touched to wear yellow ribbon pins that day, which were generously donated to our staff by one of our thoughtful school families. It was a beautiful, visible reminder of our community's commitment to standing beside our students and ensuring they always feel seen, supported, and loved.

Moments like these beautifully illustrate the core values we strive to instill in our students. The journey of these brave young patients perfectly exemplifies "Resilience," as they persist to overcome immense personal barriers. Furthermore, by rallying around this cause, our school community is actively practicing "Empathy" by demonstrating an understanding of others' perspectives and needs, and listening with an open mind to understand their situations. We are incredibly proud of the compassionate and resilient family we are building together at THE ONTARIO CENTER SCHOOL.
